GREENVILLE, S.C.- Players from Clemson, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt occupy thirteen of fourteen singles flight championship spots as schools from the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences displayed their domination during the singles semifinals of the Furman Fall Classic women's tournament held today at Mickel Tennis Center.

Vanderbilt, ranked fourth in the country, had players advance to the flight one, two, and three finals, while No. 17 ranked North Carolina has Lady Tar Heels playing in the flight four and six championships. South Carolina, who is No. 21 in the nation, has six players in championship matches, including an all-Lady Gamecock final pitting Tamara Sutton against Magda Wojdyto in the seventh flight. Clemson Lady Tigers Anna Savitskaya and Laurence Jayet will also face championship matches.

The lone player outside the ACC and SEC who succeeded in reaching a final was Middle Tennessee State's Manon Kruse, who will face Vanderbilt's Sarah Riske in the flight one championship.

In addition to the singles semifinals, the doubles championships were held today. In the top flight, Middle Tennessee State's Manon Kruse and Stacy Varnell defeated Furman Lady Paladins Megan Dunigan and Natalie The, 8-2.

In the second flight, Vanderbilt captured a victory when Sarah Riske and Annie Menees downed North Carolina's Caroline Hill and Kate Pinchbeck, 8-3.

The third flight was won by North Carolina's Kendall Cline and Leigh Bairos, who defeated Vanderbilt's Kori Scott and Kelly Schmandt, 8-2.

The singles championships will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
