NO. 63 FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS STIFLES DAVIDSON, 7-0

GREENVILLE, S.C.-- The 63rd ranked Furman women's tennis team won its 37th consecutive Southern Conference dual match when the Lady Paladins upended Davidson 7-0 on Wednesday at Mickel Tennis Center. The win pushes Furman to 15-3 on the year and 5-0 in league play.

In doubles action, Furman swept the Wildcats to take the doubles point. At No. 1, Lady Paladins Megan Dunigan and Natalie The defeated Davidson's sister tandem of Kelly and Meghan Fillnow, 8-2. Mary Kovarik and Caroline Bentley then defeated Meggie Patterson and Katerine Hatch at No. 2, 8-2, while Furman's Gene Holman and Mary Neill Hagood beat Kelley Cantrell and Yasa Hilu at No. 3, 8-2.

The Lady Paladins then swept the Wildcats in singles play to seal the victory. At No. 1, Dunigan bounced back from a 3-0 deficit in the first set to reel off 12 straight games and win 6-3, 6-0 against K. Fillnow. Kovarik won her match against Patterson at No. 2, 7-6 (3), 6-1, while Holman defeated M. Fillnow at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-2. Hagood earned a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 against Cantrell, and The followed suit with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 against Hilu. Bentley then completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat of Hatch at the No. 6 position.

Furman will return to action on April 7th when the Lady Paladins travel to Chattanooga for a showdown against the Lady Mocs at 12:00 p.m.
