Greenville, S.C.- The Furman Lady Paladin tennis team dominated the No. 71 Western Michigan Broncos today with a convincing 7-0 victory at the Mickel Tennis Center.

Furman opened the match by winning two of three doubles matches, thus earning the Lady Paladins the doubles point. Furman's Gene Holman and Natalie The defeated Broncos Nikki Douglass and Melanie Remynse, 8-2. Lady Paladins Megan Dunigan and Meredith Moore won their match as a result of Western Michigan's Larissa Chinwah having to withdraw due to injury.

The Broncos only win of the day came at No. 3 doubles, where Mariana Quintanilla and Frederika Girsang earned an 8-1 victory over Krista Thomson and Lauren Welch.

In singles action, Dunigan defeated Girsang 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, while Moore won her match at No. 2 against Remynse, 6-3, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Holman beat Douglass in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, and The overpowered Quintanilla 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5.

Furman's Thomson and Emelie Isaksson had to battle to win their matches. Thomson fought back after a second set letdown to win her match against Valeria Stoilova, 6-4, 1-6, 10-4. Isaksson, too, stumbled in the second set, but rebounded to defeat Western Michigan's Meaghan Colville, 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

Furman resumes play at home on Friday, March 23 against Southern Conference foe College of Charleston. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
