FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS SHUTS OUT WESTERN CAROLINA

CULLOWHEE, N.C.- The Furman women's tennis team won its 27th consecutive Southern Conference match today as the Lady Paladins defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 7-0 in Cullowhee.

In singles action, Furman (12-8, 7-0 Southern Conference) did not drop a set as Megan Dunigan, Gene Holman, Natalie The, Emelie Isaksson, Krista Thomson, and Shellie Cochran garnered straight-set victories.

Furman earned the doubles point after sweeping Western Carolina (4-11, 0-8 Southern Conference) in doubles play to start the day. Holman and The were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles, while Dunigan and Thomson handily won their match, 8-1. Freshmen McCall Holman and Lauren Welch completed the shutout with an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Furman will host Georgia State this Saturday at Mickel Tennis Center in a match starting at 11:00 a.m.
