Knoxville, Tenn.-- Furman won seven of its ten matches played on Saturday at the 2000 University of Tennessee St. Mary's Health System Classic. One of those victories was earned by the doubles tandem of Megan Dunigan and Meredith Moore, who defeated Georgia Tech's Misty Morris and Mason Miller 8-3 to take the flight one doubles championship.

Along with their title, Dunigan and Moore eased their way through their singles matches on Saturday. Dunigan defeated Morris 6-1, 6-1 in the flight one singles consolation bracket. Moore advanced to the flight two singles championship, beating Mississippi State's Anca Vasiloacia 6-4, 6-3. Moore will attempt to win her second championship of the tournament when she faces Tennessee's Agnes Wiski on Sunday.

Furman will have at least one third place singles winner, as Natalie The and Krista Thomson are scheduled to face off in the flight five singles third place match. The was defeated by Tennessee's Brooke Cordell 6-4, 6-4. Thomson lost to Georgia Tech's Laura Ozolins 6-1, 6-4.

Furman's Gene Holman, Emelie Isaksson, and Shellie Cochran were all victorious in their matches on Saturday. Holman defeated Minnesota's Brandi Watts 6-0, 6-0 in flight three singles competition. Isaksson battled her way to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Purdue's Gretchen Haynor in the flight four singles consolation bracket. In flight six singles round robin play, Shellie Cochran handed Purdue's Erica Bass a 6-1, 6-1 loss.

Furman continued its run of success when the doubles team of The-Cochran beat N.C. State's Amanda DeVore and Morgan Whitlock 8-3.

The Classic will wrap up on Sunday with only singles being played.
