FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS QUIETS WOFFORD, 4-0

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The No. 1 seeded Furman women's tennis team handily defeated the Wofford Terriers this morning in the first round of the Southern Conference tennis tournament, 4-0. The victory extends the Lady Paladins' Southern Conference record of consecutive conference victories to 30.

Furman opened the match by taking the doubles point from the Terriers. The all-conference doubles tandem of Megan Dunigan and Meredith Moore defeated Anna Martin and Lauren Whisenhunt, 8-2. Gene Holman and Natalie The then clinched the point with an 8-1 victory over Wendy Rohr and Candy Gore.

Dunigan, the conference Player of the Year, opened up singles play by defeating Rohr, 6-3, 6-0. Emelie Isaksson and Shellie Cochran sealed the victory with straight set victories to propel the Lady Paladins to the semifinals.

Furman moves on to face Appalachian State tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at The Citadel. The Lady Paladins defeated the Mountaineers earlier this season, 6-1.
