VANDERBILT GOES UNDEFEATED IN SINGLES; DUNIGAN ADVANCES IN FLIGHT ONE AT FALL CLASSIC

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Vanderbilt cruised to six singles victories in the opening day of the Furman Fall Classic at the Minor Mickel Tennis Center.

The Commodores won first round singles matches at flights 1-6 on Friday as Julie Ditty led the way at No. 1 singles. Two

Furman players won their first round matches as No. 1 Megan Dunigan defeated Iowa's Toni Neykova 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to face Ditty in the semifinals of the Flight 1 draw on Saturday. Freshman Shellie Cochran was impressive in a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Clemsonıs Sunnie Harmon at flight seven.

In doubles, Vanderbilt's flight 1 and 2 doubles teams advanced to Saturday's finals. The Tennessee team of Alison Ojeda and Vilmarie Castellvi will face Julie Ditty and Kate Burson in the flight 1 final.

All of the scheduled doubles matches were not able to be completed due to a late finish thanks to inclement weather throughout the day. Outdoor play was suspended several times as the dayıs matches concluded indoors. Clemsonıs indoor facility was also used.

The Fall Classic will continue Saturday with singles semifinals beginning at 9 a.m. and doubles finals starting at 1 p.m.
