FURMAN'S MOORE COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND WITH SECOND PLACE FINISH

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-- Having already won a doubles championship with partner Megan Dunigan, Furman's Meredith Moore finished second in the flight two singles tournament at the 2000 University of Tennessee St. Mary's Health System Classic on Sunday. Moore, who had defeated N.C. State's Jennifer Jassawalla and Mississippi State's Anca Vasiloacia in the first two rounds, lost to Tennessee's Agnes Wiski 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the flight two championship.

In other Furman singles action, Megan Dunigan came up short in her flight one match against Tennessee's Vilmarie Castellvi, losing 7-5, 6-3. Lady Paladin Gene Holman finished fifth in flight three, beating N.C. State's Kristin Nicholls 6-3, 6-1. After splitting the first two sets 6-4, 1-6 against Purdue's Melissa Woods, Furman's Emelie Isaksson lost in a deciding tiebreak in her bid for fifth place in the flight four draw.

Lady Paladins Natalie The and Krista Thomson faced off in an all Furman battle for third place in the flight five singles tournament. After splitting the first two sets 6-4, 1-6, The overcame a deficit in the decisive tiebreak to defeat Thomson.

Furman's Shellie Cochran, who was also forced to play a third set tiebreak, beat Minnesota's Andrea Rose in flight six singles round robin play.
