FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO N.C. STATE

Raleigh, N.C.- The N.C. State women's tennis team was able to pick up the 4-3 win over the Furman Lady Paladins on Saturday at the N.C. State Tennis Complex. Strong doubles play at No.1 and No. 3 gave the Wolfpack the doubles point, which ended up giving them the victory.

At No. 1 doubles, N.C. State's Loni Worsley and Jacki Leskovar defeated Megan Dunigan and Meredith Moore of Furman, 8-6. After Furman's Gene Holman and Natalie The overcame N.C. State's Jennifer Jassawalla and Kristin Lam, 8-2, the Wolfpack rebounded with Kristen Nicholls and Myrna Bawono easing by Lady Paladins Shellie Cochran and Krista Thomson, 8-1, to earn the Wolfpack the doubles point.

Furman did split six singles matches with the Wolfpack, as Dunigan, Moore, and Holman all emerged victorious. Dunigan defeated N.C. State's Leskovar 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Lady Paladin Meredith Moore won as Kristin Lam was forced to retire. Gene Holman also won in straight-sets, 7-6, 6-3, over the Wolfpack's Jassawalla.

Furman will try to rebound as they face UNC Greensboro on Sunday.
