NO. 68 FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS TOPPLES EAST TENNESSEE STATE, 7-0

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The No. 68 Furman women's tennis team (10-8, 5-0 Southern Conference) defeated the East Tennessee State Bucs (5-6, 2-1 Southern Conference) 7-0 in tennis action this afternoon. The win marks the 25th consecutive conference victory for the Lady Paladins.

At No. 1 singles, Mami Inoue dropped the closest match of the day to Furman's Megan Dunigan 6-3, 6-1 after having a portion of the match moved inside the Memorial Center due to rain. ETSU's fortunes did not improve as Jessica Irey dropped her match against Meredith Moore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. At No. 3, Furman's Gene Holman defeated Cara Prupas 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Tatiana Arriaran was defeated by Natalie The, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, while Emelie Isaksson handily defeated Aimee Villavicencio 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. The final singles match of the afternoon was a 6-0, 6-1 Krista Thomson victory against ETSUšs Susan Torbett at No. 6.

Doubles competition saw the team of Inoue and Irey drop an 8-1 decision to Furman's Dunigan and Moore. ETSU's Prupas and Arriaran lost their No. 2 doubles match to Holman and The by an 8-0 count. At No. 3, Villavicencio and Torbett could not overcome Thomson and Shellie Cochran, losing 8-3.

Furman will next travel to Davidson to face the Wildcats tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m.
