High School/Junior Tennis: Helped Marist High to four state titles as a prepster... Played No. 2 singles as a senior and won the Lisa Waring Coach's Award... Also named team captain and recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award... Played one year of junior varsity basketball... Active in the Breakfast Club, Habitat for Humanity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the German Honor Society, and the National Honor Society... A Peer Lead and Peer Support Facilitator... Recipient of the chemistry award.

Personal: Lauren Brookshire Welch was born Jan. 26, 1982, in Atlanta, Ga... Daughter of Marcia and Bruce Welch... Sister, Allison, played volleyball and softball at Furman from 1990-93, while sister Christy was a swimmer at Villanova from 1998-99... Has not yet declared a major, but is interested in psychology.
