FURMAN BLANKS DAVIDSON TO ADVANCE TO SEMIFINALS OF SOCON WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Top-seeded Furman shut out Davidson Friday 5-0 in a quarterfinal match at the Southern Conference Women's Tennis Championships.

The Lady Paladins (16-7) won five of six singles matches from the eighth-seeded Wildcats to move to a Saturday semifinal match against No. 5 Appalachian State. The Lady Mountaineers were 5-3 winners over Georgia Southern Friday.

Furman sophomore Megan Dunigan, the two-time SoCon Player of the Year, led the Lady Paladins' charge with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Davidson's Forbes Thompson. Meredith Moore (No. 2), Gene Holman (No. 3), Emelie Isaksson (No. 5) and Natalie The (No. 6) also recorded singles wins for Furman. Davidson concludes its season with a 7-14 record.
