FURMAN SWEEPS SOCON TENNIS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK'S

GREENVILLE, SC. -- Furman swept the first Southern Confernece tennis player-of-the-week awards as Megan Dunigan and John Chesworth were named women's and men's player-of-the-week on Tuesday.

Dunigan, a sophomore from Oak Ridge, Tenn., posted a 3-0 record for the week with wins at No. 1 singles over South Florida's Katherine Tasser (6-4, 6-1), Georgia Tech's Sabrina Pardo (7-6, 6-3) and N.C. State's Francis Barragan (6-0, 6-0). Dunigan also posted a 2-1 doubles record with Gene Holman. Dunigan leads the Lady Paladins with a record of 9-3 on the year. The Lady Paladins are 7-6 on the season, 1-0 in the Southern Confernece.

Chesworth, a freshman from Burnley, England, posted a 4-1 mark for the week. After falling to Ryan Boward of N.C. State early in the week, Chesworth claimed victories at No. 4 singles over UNC Charlotte, The Citadel, College of Charleston, and Winthrop. Cheswoth also posted a 4-1 doubles mark. Chesworth leads Furman with a 13-6 overall record. The Paladins are 13-8 overall, 2-0 in the Southern Conference.
