Greenville, S.C. -- Furman freshman Megan Dunigan defeated
the 38th ranked player in the nation and advanced to the finals in Flight
A at the Wake Forest Invitational this weekend.
Dunigan, a freshman from Oak Ridge, Tenn., defeated Riceís Justyna Guczowsica 6-4, 6-4 in the first round, before upsetting top seeded and 38th ranked Katherine Nasser of Northwestern 7-6(4), 6-4 in the semifinals. Dunigan eventually lost in the championship match 6-1, 6-3 to 47th ranked Mariel Verban of Wake Forest.
In other action, sophomore Meredith Moore finished fifth in the
Flight A draw, by defeating South Floridaís Tina Harrison 6-2, 1-0, ret.
and Riceís Justyna Guczowsica 6-3, 6-2.
