FURMAN LOSES TOUGH MATCH 5-2 TO NO.46 WAKE FOREST

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's tennis team took on yet another ranked team when No. 46 Wake Forest visited Mickel Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon. The Paladins battled hard, but fell 5-2 to the Demon Deacons. With the loss the Paladins move to 4-8 on the year, while Wake Forest improves to 7-5.

The Demon Deacons came out strong winning all three doubles matches to capture the first point of the day. Wake Forest then took a 3-0 advantage with victories at the No.5 and No. 6 slot. Furman put their first point on the board, when Patrick Fillnow downed David Loewenthal 6-3, 6-3 in the No.2 slot. In No.1 singles action Furman's John Chesworth lost a tough match to Todd Paul 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and Paladin Ben Pauluhn dropped a close match to Brett Ross 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 slot. The final Paladin victory came when Allen Simmons battled back to beat No. 83 Andrew Hamar 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

The Paladins travel to Atlanta on Saturday to take on Georgia Tech at 1:00 PM.
