FURMAN DROPS MATCH TO NO. 69 EAST TENNESSEE STATE 5-2

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's tennis team fell to 10-11 (6-1 SoCon) after dropping a match to East Tennessee State (13-5, 6-0) by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday at the Mickel Tennis Center.

Furman took the doubles portion of the match winning two out of three matches. At No.1 Furman's John Chesworth and Patrick Fillnow won in a tiebreaker over Oscar Posada and Alejandro Salazar 9-8(5) and the Paladin's Greg Maarschalk and Ben Pauluhn downed Felix Insaurralde and Fernando Fiuri 8-4 in the No. 3 slot to secure the point. East Tennessee State won the match at No.2 with Diego Iglesias and Moises Serrano downing Brian Crook and Allen Simmons 8-6.

East Tennessee State went on to win five out of the six singles matches to secure the victory. Furman picked up their only singles match at No.1 with John Chesworth defeating Alejandro Salazar 6-3, 7-6(1).

The Paladins travel to Chattanooga on Friday for a match at 2:00, then return home for their final three games of the regular season.
