GREENVILLE, S.C.-- The Furman tennis teams will host key home matches on Saturday when the women face 28th-ranked Georgia Tech at 11:00 a.m. and the men match up against Southern Conference foe Georgia Southern at 2:00 p.m.

The Lady Paladins (4-6), who are ranked 72nd in the country, have not played a match within the friendly confines of Mickel Tennis Center since February 5, when South Carolina upended Furman 4-3. Since that match, Furman has traveled to Auburn, Ala., where the Lady Paladins faced the homestanding Tigers (6-1 loss) and Florida State (6-1 loss), and Colorado Springs, Colo., where Furman played Colorado State (4-3 win), Air Force (6-1 win), and Denver (4-3 loss). Furman, who is facing Georgia Tech for the 18th time, trails the Yellow Jackets 12-5 in the series. The two teams met last season, with Georgia Tech winning the match 5-2.

The 63rd-ranked Furman men, meanwhile, are coming off Thursday's 6-1 thrashing of Atlantic Coast Conference foe N.C. State. Saturday's match against Georgia Southern marks the conference opener for the Paladins (5-5), who are attempting to defend last year's Southern Conference regular season title. Furman features the 19th-ranked doubles duo in the country in James Cameron and Patrick Fillnow, who own a 9-1 record in 2003.
