FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO FLORIDA STATE 5-2

TALLAHASSEE, FLA..--- The 41st ranked Florida State men's tennis team defeated 64th ranked Furman 5-2 on Thursday. After losing the doubles point, the Seminoles won five of six singles matches. Furman falls to 4-5 with the loss while Florida State improves to 5-5 on the season.

Furman won two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Furman's 19th ranked doubles tandem of James Cameron and Patrick Fillnow defeated Florida State's Alex Herrera and Romain Jurd by a score of 8-5. Florida State's Jeff Groslimond and Chris Westerhof defeated Dasef Weems and Andrew Rogers of Furman at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. With the doubles score tied at one, the first point of the day came down to the No. 3 doubles position. Furman's Allen Simmons and Chris Henderson defeated Rodrigo Laub and Hagen Endler by a score of 8-5, which allowed the Paladins the first point of the match.

After earning the first point of the day in doubles play, Furman carried its success into singles. At No. 3 singles, Chris Henderson downed Heiner Tadault 6-2, 6-1 to give Furman a 2-0 lead in the match.

Florida State then earned wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 singles to take a 3-2 lead. Florida State's Jeff Groslimond, playing at the No. 6 position, clinched the victory for the Seminoles, as he defeated Ryan McCarthy in three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3. At No. 5 singles, Allen Simmons also fell in three sets to Rodrigo Laub, 6-7 (1), 6-1, 6-2.
