FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS KNOCKS OFF WOFFORD, 5-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team moved to 12-11 overall and 6-2 in conference action when the Paladins downed the Wofford Terriers 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg.

After Furman swept the Terriers in doubles action to take the match's doubles point, Furman won four singles contests to clinch the victory. At No. 1, Furman's James Cameron defeated Kent Ball, 6-1, 6-4, while Andrew Rogers overpowered Brandon Smith in flight three action, 6-2, 6-3. Furman's Patrick Fillnow won at the No. 4 slot against Brett Johnson by a 6-4, 6-2 score, and Ryan McCarthy defeated Jason Mengel at No. 6 , 6-3, 6-1.

The flight two and flight five singles matches were unable to finish due to inclement weather.

The Paladins will return home to take on SoCon opponent Chattanooga for their regular season finale on Saturday in a 1:30 p.m. contest.
