WAKE FOREST MEN'S TENNIS BLANKS FURMAN, 7-0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The 28th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated Furman 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.

In doubles action, Wake's Mike Murray and Trent Brendon teamed up to defeat James Cameron and Ryan McCarthy 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. D.J. Spice and David Bere took on Andrew Rogers and Ben Piruluhn, winning at No. 2 doubles, 8-6. At No. 3 doubles, David Loewenthal and Brett Ross overpowered Chris Henderson and Allen Simmons, 8-3.

Loewenthal, Murray and Ross picked up straight set victories in singles, while Spice, Bere and Brendon won in super tiebreakers.

With the loss, Furman drops to 6-9 on the season. The Paladins will next travel to Charleston, S.C. to face the homestanding College of Charleston Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
