FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS DROPS 5-2 DECISION TO 16th-RANKED SOUTH CAROLINA

COLUMBIA, S.C..--- The 63rd-ranked Furman men's tennis team (3-3) dropped a 5-2 decision to the 16th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday.

Furman's No. 1 doubles team of James Cameron and Patrick Fillnow defeated USC's Marcus Westman and Tom Eklund 9-8, but South Carolina claimed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point.

South Carolina then moved on to take four singles matches to clinch the win led by 38th ranked Seth Rose's 6-4, 7-6 victory over James Cameron at No. 1 singles. Furman, though, earned wins at No. 3 singles as Chris Henderson defeated Marcus Westman 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and at No. 6 singles as Allen Simmons downed Geralso Knorr 3-6, 7-5.

The Paladins return to action on Monday, February 24 with a match at 35th ranked Georgia Tech. Furman's scheduled match against USC Aiken was not played.
