FURMAN MEN’S TENNIS SILENCES UNCG 7-0

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men’s tennis team improved to 10-11 overall and 4-2 in Southern Conference action when the Paladins defeated UNC Greensboro 7-0 at Mickel Tennis Center on Saturday.

Furman opened the day by sweeping the Spartans in doubles play. At No. 1, James Cameron and Pat Fillnow defeated Julio Moran and Pieter Visser, 8-3. Meanwhile, Furman’s Ben Pauluhn and Andrew Rogers dropped Eric Johnson and Kshitis Gujarati at No. 2, 8-3, while Allen Simmons and Henderson held off Marc Ladouceur and Rohan Kronti in flight three action, 8-5.

Furman’s Cameron, Henderson, Fillnow, Rogers, Simmons, and McCarthy then sealed the match by winning all their singles matches. All of the Paladins won in straight sets except for Fillnow, who had to battle back to win his match 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.

The Paladins return to action when Furman hosts Davidson in a key Southern Conference showdown on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
