MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- The 63rd-ranked Furman men's tennis team dropped to 6-7 on the year when the 56th-ranked Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Paladins 4-1 at the Blue/Gray Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday.

Fresno State gathered the momentum at the start of the match when the Bulldogs won the match's doubles point. At No. 1, Bulldogs Hector Almada and Sergiu Modoc defeated Furman's 26th-ranked tandem of James Cameron and Patrick Fillnow, 8-4. Fresno State's Stefan Suta and Alex Krohn then clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory against Chris Henderson and Allen Simmons at No. 3.

In singles action, Almada won a hard-fought flight one match against Cameron, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2. Fresno State's Greg Shearer then defeated Fillnow at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. Fresno State's clinching victory came at No. 4, where Marc Schaerer earned a 7-6 (3), 6-1 triumph against Andrew Rogers.

Furman's point came from a 6-4, 6-4 Henderson victory at No. 2 against Suta.
