FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS SLIPS UP AGAINST COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON IN 4-3 LOSS

CHARLESTON, S.C.-- The Furman men's tennis team dropped to 6-10 on the year and 1-1 in Southern Conference action when the College of Charleston defeated the Paladins 4-3 on Saturday in Charleston.

Charleston seized the momentum from the start when the Cougars grabbed two of three doubles victories to take the opening doubles point. Furman's lone doubles victory came at No. 1, where No. 26 ranked James Cameron and Patrick Fillnow defeated Artie Peller and Timo Siebert, 8-4.

The Cougars and Paladins then did battle in singles, with five of six contests going to three sets. Charleston won three of those matches, which was enough to claim the dual match victory.

Furman's singles victories came from the top three flights. At No. 1, Cameron defeated Siebert, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, while Chris Henderson held off Eyal Omid, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. Paladin Andrew Rogers also won his match in three sets against Peller, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Furman will look to bounce back on Sunday when the Paladins face The Citadel at 12:30 p.m.
