ATLANTA, Ga. -- The No. 62 ranked Furman men's tennis team (9-12, 6-0 SoCon) had its eight match winning streak broken on Sunday when the 56th ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Paladins 5-2 at Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta.
The Jackets fell behind early when the Paladins won the doubles point by claiming two of three matches in doubles competition. Furman's John Chesworth and James Cameron notched an 8-4 victory at No. 1 against Scott Schnugg and West Nott, while Chris Henderson and Allen Simmons won their match at the No. 3 slot 8-4 against Fabio Campos and Joao Menano. Georgia Tech's lone doubles win came with an 8-1 Roger Anderson-David Wright victory against Peter Netzler and Andrew Rogers at No. 2.
In singles play, Henderson was Furman's only winner of the day as he downed Tech's Schnugg at No. 3 singles by a 6-3, 6-3 score.
Furman will look to bounce back when arch-rival East Tennessee State visits Mickel Tennis Center on April 10th at 3:00 p.m.
