ATLANTA, Ga.-- The No. 67 ranked Furman men's tennis team lost its fifth straight match to a ranked opponent as the Paladins dropped a 6-1 decision to 37th-ranked Florida State in Atlanta on Sunday. Furman (1-5, 0-0 SoCon) and Florida State (6-1, 0-0 ACC) were originally supposed to meet on January 27th in Tallahassee, but rainy weather forced the two teams to re-schedule the match for today in Atlanta.

Florida State started the day by taking the doubles point from the Paladins. While Romain Jurd and Gustav Bucht defeated Furman's Andrew Rogers and Patrick Fillnow at the No. 2 spot, 8-2, Xavier Luscan and Mat Cloer clinched the doubles point by beating Chris Henderson and Allen Simmons at No. 3, 8-5.

Furman's John Chesworth and James Cameron won their doubles match at No. 1 against Alex Herrera and Jarrod Owen, 8-5.

Florida State then carried the momentum from doubles play into singles action as the Seminoles claimed five of six singles matches.

Furman's lone singles victory came at No. 6, where Patrick Gaughan defeated Florida State's Owen, 6-3, 6-1.

Furman will not play until February 24th when the Paladins travel to Athens, Ga. to face the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m.
