FURMAN MEN, WOMEN'S TENNIS RECEIVE CONFERENCE HONORS

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The success of the Furman Paladin men and women's tennis programs was made evident today as members from both teams were recognized with conference honors.

Lady Paladin Megan Dunigan, a junior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., was voted the women's Southern Conference Player of the Year. Dunigan went undefeated at No. 1 singles in conference play and was 18-3 overall, including a win over No. 59 ranked Michelle Gough of Arizona. This marks Dunigan's third Player of the Year honor, making her only the second player in conference history to win the award three straight years.

Senior Meredith Moore received women's all-conference singles honors. Moore registered a 12-6 overall record and went 6-0 in conference action. She paired with Dunigan to earn all-conference doubles honors, going undefeated in conference action and 10-5 overall at the No. 1 slot.

Paladin James Cameron was named to the men's all-conference singles team. Cameron, a sophomore from Harare, Zimbabwe, went 13-9 on the year and 8-1 in conference competition while mainly playing at the No. 2 singles spot. Cameron, along with partner John Chesworth, was also selected to the all-conference doubles team. The tandem teamed up to go 14-5 on the season and 9-0 in league play.

Furman's Eric Ward earned the Southern Conference men's Freshman of the Year award. The Thomasville, Ga., native was 6-0 at No. 6 singles in conference action and 14-3 overall. He was also 2-0 at No. 5 singles.

Furman will be participating in the Southern Conference tennis tournament this weekend in Charleston. The men open up tomorrow against College of Charleston at 9:00 a.m., while the women will face Wofford at 9:30 a.m. Both teams are seeded first.
