FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS CHARLESTON 5-2; WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The No. 68 Furman men's tennis team moved to 11-6 on the season and 5-0 in Southern Conference play as the Paladins defeated College of Charleston 5-2 today at Mickel Tennis Center.

Furman started the match by sweeping the Cougars in doubles action to earn the doubles point. James Cameron and John Chesworth were 8-3 winners at No. 1 doubles, while Lee Nickell and Seth Hauser were victorious at the No. 2 slot, 9-7. Charlie Lloyd and Chris Henderson completed the shutout as they won 8-2 at No. 3.

Paladins Patrick Gaughan and Eric Ward were straight-set winners in singles, while Chris Henderson defeated Bill Brehmer in three sets at No. 5 singles, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2. Furmanšs James Cameron was also a three-set victor, overcoming a one-set deficit to defeat Sagi Zakin 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.

Furman will travel to Raleigh, N.C. this weekend to face their next opponent, N.C. State, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
