WAKE FOREST PICKS UP HOME VICTORY AGAINST PALADINS

Winston-Salem, N.C.- The 32nd ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated Furman, 4-3 on Saturday at Leighton Stadium. Wake Forest and Furman split the singles matches 3-3, but the Demon Deacons captured the doubles point to earn the victory.

Raul Munoz and doubles partner David Loewenthal beat Furman's John Chesworth and James Cameron 8-6 in the number one doubles match while Wake Forest's Mike Murray teamed up with David Bere to defeat Andrew Rogers and Patrick Fillnow 8-4 in the number two doubles match.

Paladins Charlie Lloyd and Chris Henderson won at No. 3 doubles 8-5 over Demon Deacons Justin Kaufmann and Andrew Simpson.

In singles action, Furman's Fillnow, Cameron, and Patrick Gaughan all emerged victorious. Fillnow won a three-set battle against Wake's Kaufmann 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, while Cameron was victorious in straight-sets, beating Wake Forest's Loewenthal 6-3, 7-6(6). Gaughan also won in two sets, defeating Wake's Mike Murray 7-5, 6-0.

Furman falls to 6-5 on the season, and will try to bounce back Wednesday in a home match against Georgia Tech.
