No. 43 VANDERBILT DEFEATS NO. 72 FURMAN, 5-2

Nashville, Tenn.- Vanderbilt took the doubles point on their way to a 5-2 victory over No. 72 Furman on Monday afternoon in an outdoor match at the Currey Tennis Center.

After Furman's James Cameron and John Chesworth defeated Eddie Coates and Bobby Reynolds, 8-6, the Commodores won at No. 2 and No. 3. Brad Hambrick and Lewis Smith earned their sixth win of the dual match season with an 8-6 victory over Andrew Rogers and Patrick Fillnow, while Chad Harris and Josh Tarkoff won their seventh after defeating Chris Henderson and Charlie Lloyd, 8-6.

In singles action, Vanderbilt won at the No. 1-4 positions all in straight sets. No. 74 Eddie Coates defeated Lee Nickell, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Jens Frederiksen and Chad Harris picked up wins against Patrick Gaughan and Chris Henderson, and Bobby Reynolds clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over James Cameron.

Furman did take two singles matches against the Commodores, with freshmen Patrick Fillnow and Eric Ward winning at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots.
