FURMAN DROPS 7-0 DECISION TO NO. 8 GEORGIA

Athens, Ga.- The Georgia men's tennis team registered its fourth consecutive win with a 7-0 victory over Furman on the Henry Feild Stadium Courts Sunday afternnon in Athens.

The Bulldogs had little trouble with the 72nd-ranked Paladins, winning all nine matches, including five singles matches in straight sets.

The match opened up with Georgia claiming the doubles point as the Bulldogs won all three of the matches played.

Travis Parrott was the first Bulldog to win his singles match, defeating Furman's Chris Henderson 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 position. Chad Carlson ran the team score to
3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over John Chesworth in the No. 3 singles spot.

One match went three sets, as Georgia's Brandon Wagner and Furman's Patrick Fillnow split the first two sets, sending the match to a third and deciding set. Both players held serve through 10 games, but Wagner broke in the 11th game for the 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 win.

The Paladins will next face Wake Forest on Saturday, March 10 in Winstom-Salem, N.C.
