NO. 68 FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS TEAM FALLS TO NO. 20 ALABAMA

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Furman men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against the Alabama Crimson Tide today at Mickel Tennis Center. The loss breaks a six-match winning streak for the Paladins.

Alabama (13-5, 2-4 SEC) started the match by sweeping Furman (12-7, 5-0 Southern Conference) in doubles action. William Boyles and Stephen Mitchell defeated Paladins James Cameron and John Chesworth 8-5, while Susheel Narla and Chris Gostek beat freshmen Andrew Rogers and Patrick Fillnow, 8-6. Brian Isern and Alfonso Perez completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory against Charlie Lloyd and Chris Henderson.

Alabama then won four of six singles matches to clinch the victory.

Paladins Fillnow and Patrick Gaughan were the lone victors for Furman. Fillnow won at No. 6 singles 6-0, 7-6, and Gaughan was victorious at No. 5, 6-0, 7-5.

Furman will look to rebound this Thursday at home against Brown University. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
