FURMAN MEN'S TENNIS SIGNS TWO

GREENVILLE Furman University men's tennis head coach Paul Scarpa announced the signing of two nationally ranked prep stars to national letters-of-intent for the 2000 season on Tuesday.

Eric Ward, from Thomasville, Ga., is an honor student from Brookwood School. He was the recipient of two Southern Sportsmanship Awards and is ranked in the top 15 in the South and 67th in the nation.

Andrew Rogers, from Chattanooga, Tenn., is a National Merit Scholar at the McCallie School. He is ranked fifth nationally and qualified for the National Indoor Championship held in Dallas this week.

Ward and Rogers will join a formidable men's tennis program that has won the Southern Confernece championship 11 times.
