FURMAN HONORS ATHLETES AT ANNUAL BANQUET

GREENVILLE Furman student-athletes Orlando Ruff, Brian Gill, and Ronnie Pascale were among the top honorees at the school's annual men's award banquet held Tuesday night on campus at the Hartness Pavilion.

Ruff, an All-America linebacker and recent free agent signee with the NFL's San Diego Chargers, received Furman's Student-Athlete Achievement Award. Tennis player Brian Gill was the recipient of the school's Academic Achievement Award, and soccer goal keeper Ronnie Pascale, who posted 31 shutouts in his career, was tabbed as Furman's Athlete-of-the-Year.

Furman head soccer coach Doug Allison, who directed his squad to a 16-4-2 record and Southern Conference championship, received the J. Lyles Alley Coach-of-the-Year Award.
