GEORGIA TECH SWEEPS LADY PALADINS 8-0, 2-0

ATLANTA, Georgia -- Jessica Sallinger pitched seven innings of one-hit ball to lead Georgia Tech to a 2-0 victory over Furman and sweep of a softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Glenn Field in Atlanta, Ga.

In game one, Tara Knudson went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run to lead Georgia Tech (5-1) to an 8-0 win. Erin Voeltz allowed only one hit in five innings of work to earn her second victory of the season.

Rachel Henley suffered the loss for Furman allowing three earned runs in four innings. Henley recorded five strike outs in the loss.

In game two, Sallinger and Furman's Kristy Goodrich staged a pitcher's duel. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning, Goodrich hit centerfielder Sara Wissmann to lead off the inning. Two batters later Georgia Tech's Soraya Reddick belted an opposite field two-run homer for the game's only runs.

Sallinger struck out ten Lady Paladins to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Goodrich (1-2) surrendered two runs on five hits in six innings. Joni Lockridge recorded the only base hit for Furman.

The Lady Paladins, 1-6, return to action on February 27, when they travel to Charleston for the Charleston Southern Invitational.
