Furman's Rachel Henley Named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week

GREENVILLE, South Carolina-- Junior pitcher Rachel Henley has been named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in Furman's series victory against Georgia Southern this past weekend, the league office announced Monday.

Henley, a native of Kingston, Tenn. (Roane County HS), continued her dominance in the circle as she tossed two complete games against Georgia Southern, including a 10-inning performance where she allowed no earned runs in a 2-1 triumph on Saturday. Sunday Henley pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout while striking out five to lead Furman past Georgia Southern 1-0.

The righthander is currently riding a streak of 32.1 innings without giving up an earned run. In four conference starts, she is 3-1 with a 0.20 ERA in 35.2 innings pitched.

Furman, now 4-2 in SoCon play, returns to action on Wednesday when its hosts Winthrop in a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m.
