Jaudon Powers Furman Past Elon in Series Finale 4-1

Elon, N.C. -- Freshman Megan Jaudon doubled and drove in three runs to lead Furman to a 4-1 victory over Elon in softball action Sunday afternoon at East Field in Elon, N.C.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, LaKerah Barr singled and advanced to third on a stolen base and sacrifice bunt by JoDee Eichelberger. Jaudon followed with a sacrifice fly to left to tie the game at 1-1.

In the fifth inning, Danielle Franklin singled through the left side to start the frame. After a sacrifice bunt by Kristin White, Barr reached on a bunt single to move Franklin to third. Eichelberger drove home the game-winning run with a single to right center plating Franklin.

Holding on to a 2-1 lead in the top half of the seventh, White drew a one-out walk and Eichelberger singled up the middle with two down to keep the inning alive. Jaudon followed with a two-run double off the wall in left centerfield to give the Lady Paladins a 4-1 lead.

Rachel Henley pitched a complete-game, five-hitter to improve to 9-17 on the season. The Kingston, Tenn., native allowed just one run and one walk while striking out seven Phoenix batters.

Barr led Furman at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run and two stolen bases. Eichelberger contributed two hits, two sacrifices and an RBI to the Lady Paladin attack.

Jennifer Lamb (6-6) took the loss for Elon allowing four runs on nine hits.

The win improves Furman to 12-37 overall and 5-7 in Southern Conference play, while the Elon Phoenix fall to 27-17-1 overall and 9-6 in league play.

Furman returns to action Wednesday when it visits South Carolina for a doubleheader.
