FURMAN'S MATTHEWS, GOODRICH AND BARR EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS AT TIGER INVITATIONAL

GREENVILLE, South Carolina-- Catcher Jessica Matthews, pitcher Kristy Goodrich and centerfielder LaKerah Barr earned all-tournament honors for their performances this past weekend at the Tiger Invitational at Auburn University.

Matthews went 6-for-12 in the tournament's five games with three doubles and three runs batted in. The junior went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, walk and two stolen bases in Furman's 5-0 victory over Austin Peay on Sunday.

Goodrich, who pitched only 13 innings for the Lady Paladins in 2003, allowed just one earned run in 14 innings of work over two games at Auburn's Jane B. Moore FIeld. The Lordstown, Ohio, native picked up her first shutout of her career Sunday pitching seven innings of five-hit softball.

Barr, a four-year starter for the Lady Paladins, batted .357 for the tournament and was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts. The senior recorded a double, triple and three runs scored for the tournament.

Furman, 1-4 on the season, returns to action Tuesday when it visits Georgia Tech for a 2p.m. doubleheader.
