FURMAN SOFTBALL SIGNS TWO

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman softball coach Bonnie Flynn announced on Tuesday the signing of Megan Jaudon and Lynn Parmer to play for the Lady Paladins in 2004.

A catcher/first baseman from Blacksburg, Va., Jaudon plays her prep softball at Blacksburg High School. The senior is a three-time team MVP and has also garnered three letters as a member of her school's volleyball team. Jaudon's ASA team is the Virginia Class Action Scrappers.

Parmer, a native of Roanoke, Ala., has registered playing time at third base, second base and as an outfielder for LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, Ga. Parmer is a three-time first team all-state selection and 2002 Georgia North-South All Star Game participant. Parmer, who helped her LaGrange Academy squad to the 2000 state championship, is a member of the Georgia Elite Gold ASA team.

"Both of these young ladies are going to make a fine addition to our team," said Flynn. "As we graduate so many talented seniors and starters this year, it is very important to replace them with high quality players."

Coach Flynn believes both players bring several strengths with them to the Lady Paladin program.

"In Megan Jaudon we have found a power hitting catcher who can also play either corner position," said Flynn. "Lynn Parmer brings a terrific ability to play three infield positions, as well as outfield. She is also the kind of player who really has a great knowledge and feel for the game, anticipating where the ball will be and where she needs to be."

Furman opens the 2003 season hosting Gardner-Webb in the Lady Paladin Invitational at Pepsi Stadium on February 15.
