FURMAN'S MEAGEN JOHNSON HONORED AS SOUTHERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Southern Conference named Furman first baseman Meagen Johnson the SoCon Player of the Week Monday. Johnson, a native of Georgetown, S.C., went 11-for-16 at the plate in five games this past week to post a .688 batting average. The sophomore doubled in her final at-bat versus Charleston Southern on March 27 to begin a school-record streak of eight consecutive at-bats with a hit. Johnson went 4-for-4 in the first game against the College of Charleston on March 29 and went 3-for-3 in the second game. For the weekend, Johnson posted three doubles, a triple and four RBI. She drew two walks and was intentionally walked once as Furman posted a 3-2 mark for the week. Johnson, who also pitches for the Lady Paladins, was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week on March 12. The Furman Lady Paladins return to action in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at Appalachian State.
