JOHNSON NAMED SOUTHERN CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Southern Conference named Furman righthander Meagen Johnson the SoCon Pitcher of the Week Wednesday.

Johnson, a sophomore from Georgetown, SC, pitched 13 innings without giving up a run for Furman and picked up two Lady Paladins wins in the Charleston Southern Invitational Tournament. She recorded 11 strikeouts and pitched two complete-game shutouts over Indiana on March 8 and Centenary on March 9.

Johnson also belted a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning against Centenary, giving Furman the run support to clinch the tournament consolation title.

The Furman Lady Paladins return home for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
