FURMAN SOFTBALL SET FOR CHARLESTON SOUTHERN/HAMPTON INN SOFTBALL INVITATIONAL

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman softball team returns to action this weekend at Charleston Southern's Hampton Inn/Quality Suites Softball Invitational at Gahagan Park in Summerville, S.C.

The Lady Paladins, 4-7 on the season, open tournament play Friday in a 1:00 p.m. contest versus the Indiana Hoosiers. Furman will face Central Florida thirty minutes after game one.

Head coach Bonnie Flynn and the Lady Paladins posted a 2-4 mark last weekend at the FIU Golden Panther Invitational in Miami, Fla. Centerfielder LaKerah Barr leads Furman at the plate with a .429 average. The junior batted .550 with two doubles on her way to picking up all-tournament honors last weekend.

Also an all-tournament pick, s ophomore Meagen Johnson (.359) recorded three doubles, batted .400 and picked up a save in Furman's 8-6 win over Florida A&M during the Golden Panther Invitational.

Furman concludes pool play Saturday with games against Tennessee Tech and Savannah State before single elimination play begins Saturday night.
