FURMAN COMPLETES SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SWEEP OVER UNC WILMINGTON

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman softball team swept UNC Wilmington in a three game series that ended with an 11-4 victory on Sunday, at Pepsi Stadium. With the win, Furman improved to 10-15 on the season and 3-0 in the conference, while UNC Wilmington moved to 11-14 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

A decisive fourth innings paced by a three run triple from freshman catcher Karen Myers gave the Lady Paladins the insurance needed to clinch the series. Myers, who hit .556 for the series, returned to the plate in the sixth inning for a lead-off home run. The freshman from Durham, N.C. had five RBI and went three for three in the game.

Furman pitcher Missy Baldwin (1-3) earned a win throwing a complete seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out three. UNC Wilmington pitcher Chrissy Freaney (1-2) took the loss in three innings on the mound.

Furman will be back in action on Wednesday, March 21, in a 2 p.m. game with Charleston Southern.
