LEACHMAN NAMED SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK


ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Furman shortstop KellI Leachman was named the SoCon Softball Player of the Week for March 12. Leachman was Furman's first Player of the Week selection since Kay Brittain earned the honor in week seven of the 2000 season.

Leachman, a sophomore from Laurel, MD, hit .333 with six RBI's, leading the Lady Paladins to a 6-3 record last week. She had her most impressive game of the week against Eastern Michigan where she hit a two-run homer in the second inning and drove in two more runs in the 6-3 win. Leachman also recorded a double against St. Louis.
