FURMAN DROPS ONE TO CAMPBELL

Greenville, South Carolina--The Furman softball team dropped one game of a scheduled doubleheader to Campbell on Wednesday, 5-4. With the win, the Camels improved to 1-0 on the season , while Furman moves to 0-3.

The Lady Paladins held a 3-1 lead over the Camels going into the top of the fifth inning, when Campell ralllied for four runs. The go-ahead run was scored by junior Leslie Standiford, when Furman catcher Melissa Hutton fumbled a throw from center fielder Kay Brittain. Furman had a chance to win in the bottom of the seventh when Brittain struck out with the bases loaded for the final out of the game.

Game two of the doubleheader was called on account of darkness in the third inning, with Furman leading 1-0.

Furman will be in action again on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Charleston Southern University. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
