FURMAN DEFEATS UNC GREENSBORO IN GAME THREE

Greenville, South Carolina--The Furman softball team defeated UNC Greensboro in the final game of the series, and the team's last home game, Sunday by a score of 1-0.

Furman sophomore Missy Baldwin was commanding from the pitching mound, throwing a complete seven inning shutout, allowing five hits, striking out five, and walking one. With the win, Baldwin improves to 4-6 on the season. Greensboro pitcher Amber Watson (15-10) took the loss in six innings, allowing three hits, striking out five, and walking four. Offensively for the Lady Paladins, senior Kelly Jack hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning to score Kay Brittain, who singled to reach base.

Furman ended the regular season with an overall record of 25-27, and a conference record of 11-7. The Spartans finished 30-25 on the season, and 11-9 in the conference. Furman will be in action again in the Southern Conference Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. Times and seedings will be announced on Monday by the league office
