FURMAN PLACES THREE ON ALL SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SOFTBALL TEAM
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee -- Three members of the Lady Paladin softball team were named to the All Southern Conference team announced by the league Thursday at the Southern Conference Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Senior center fielder Kay Brittain picked up her third all-conference award as a first team pick. Brittain led the Lady Paladin team in batting average (.305), runs (21), hits (43), triples (5), home runs (3), and slugging percentage (.468) for the 2001 season. She was also second in RBI with 21.
Seniors Chrissy Hacker and Kelly Jack were named to the league's second team - Hacker as a pitcher and Jack as an outfielder. Hacker won 12 regular season games and posted a 1.14 ERA, while Jack managed a .962 fielding percentage and hit .246 while playing in the outfield. Jack also picked up nine wins on the mound. The award was Hacker's second all-conference pick and Jack's first.
