FURMAN SOFTBALL SWEEPS ERSKINE

GREENVILLE, South Carolina--The Furman softball team defeated Erskine twice Thursday at Varsity Field, by scores of 8-0 and 2-0. With the wins, Furman improves to 9-13 on the year.

The Lady Paladins clinched game one of the doubleheader in the fifth inning, defeating Erskine by the eight run rule. Furman pitcher Chrissy Hacker threw a complete five inning shutout with 16 batters faced, improving her record to 4-5. Senior captain Jodi Baumgardner went two for two in the game, posting two RBI's. Erskine pitcher Terri Jubber took the Flying Fleet loss.

Game two of the doubleheader remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when pitcher Kelly Jack reached on an error and scored three plays later on another miscue. Furman's final run was scored by Melissa Hutton who reached on a single and scored on a Jessi Anucinski hit. Kelly Jack improved to 3-4 on the year, while Erskine pitcher Amy Gray took the loss.
