FURMAN TAKES TWO FROM GEORGIA SOUTHERN

Greenville, South Carolina -- The Furman softball team defeated Georgia Southern twice on Sunday in Southern Conference action. The final game of the four game series is scheduled for Monday April 17, at 2:30 p.m.

In game one of the doubleheader, Furman pitcher Missy Baldwin pitched a complete seven innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run, improving her overall record to 8-7. The Lady Paladins rallied in the third off an Erin Keen two run double, to overcome GSU's one run in the first inning. Georgia Southern pitcher Lacey Kamerer dropped to 5-8 with the loss.

Game two of the doubleheader remained scoreless through ten innings, until both teams posted one run in the 11th. Furman's Kelly Jack broke the tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the 12 inning. Furman pitcher Chrissy Hacker pitched a complete 12 innings, striking out nine and allowing only four hits, tallying 12-8 overall. With the wins, Furman improved to 29-24 on the season, while Georgia Southern dropped to 25-28.
