Furman Softball beats Winthrop 4-3

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman softball team played only one game of a scheduled doubleheader on Thursday against Winthrop College due to rain.

The entire eight innings of the Furman Softball game was played in rain, but the Paladins were still able to earn the win. Two runs scored in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Furman a one run lead and a win that improved their record to 9-23. Winning pitcher Kelly Jack(6-8) helped herself out in the eighth inning, scoring an unearned run to put the Paladins ahead of the Eagles. Jack pitched a five hitter and struck out nine en route to the victory.

The second game of the doubleheader was called on account of rain, and is not scheduled for make up.
